There is no instant in Internet marketing

I want it now! Is that how you feel when it comes to marketing on the internet? Probably! It is the way we as a society feel about just about everything. We live in an instant society. Instant rice, instant potatoes, instant breakfast etc. Now we also like to complain about the product don’t we? It’s never as good as the real thing. The saying is always “just as good as …”, right. But we can’t wait. We are driven by the now. It shows on our bank accounts and on our credit card statements. We can’t wait.
Well when it comes to internet marketing the same attitude is true and it doesn’t work here any better than anywhere else. Everything I have read other than the spam in my inbox says that to be successful in the internet marketing business it takes time. But I can’t afford it to take time. If I’m not making money by tomorrow then I’m sunk. I read some quotes on the internet the other day that were exactly on topic. Here is one of those quotes. "I lost my job a few months ago; all my bills are past due, and my house is being foreclosed on. I need to make at least $5,000 by the end of the month. Can you help me?" I feel for this guy and though you may not be in the same position you may have the same attitude.
I fight the same battle. I may have one advantage. I have had my own bricks and mortar business for 28 years and I not only know but have experienced the fact that it doesn’t happen overnight and that “it is always going to be work” but that topic is for another day.
I have a couple of online stores if you haven’t caught that by now and I would like to be making more by now and not having to work so hard to get them going. Does it really have to be this much work?
If you read my last entry in this blog where I was talking about social networking sites, this is for sure true, when trying to use them. They are good to use but they are for sure not instant anything. I have also learned not to ask for patience. It seems that when I do I get a good dose of not so pleasant learning. So sit yourself down and decide if you are in it for the long hall and if you aren’t then get out now while you’re ahead. That’s my advice anyway.
Now if you are looking for some great outdoor furniture than check out our two stores “Outdoor Cedars” and “Teaks n More” where you can get great quality at a price you can afford.

Making the Right Choices in Business

It is so easy to get off track one wonders if there is any way anyone can stay on track. Have you ever felt that way? I have and at times I do.
Last time I asked the question “Is there something we can use to help us make the right choices”. I’m talking about staying on track.
There are principles that will help us with this dilemma.

1. Don’t jump at things immediately.
Anything that is worth anything will still be there tomorrow for you to connect up with.

2. Seek the advice of friends who know you well.
There are a lot of people out there who are willing to give you their advice and some of it is not going to be bad. There are people who really care for other people even if they don’t know them but without ulterior motives now that is a different story. Those of us who really care about others if we were really honest with ourselves when we give even people we know advice we often do it we some ulterior motive. We don’t have to work at it, it just comes out that way. So if we can do that with the people we know and love how much more with people we don’t know and/or have never met. Seek the advice of friends who know you well.

3. Seek the advice of knowledgeable people in the field.
This takes a little discernment because people like to think they know what they are doing or at least they want you to think they do. Anyone can tell you anything but with a little detective work we can check out who you are getting the advice from. It is not that difficult over the internet. Time and record are essential. Anyone who is truly a knowledgeable person on internet marketing will be easy to find out about over the internet.

4. Listen to people who have gone before.
People who you have already started to build a relationship with are a better source of advice then total strangers. Listen to people who have used whatever you are checking out. Now I must say here that testimonials, though good from a trusted source, can be also just made up. Be aware.

This is why web 2.0 is taking off. People don’t know who to trust or believe but through these web 2.0 sites you are able to develop relationships with others and over some time learn who you can trust and who you don’t feel comfortable with. Who seems to know what they are talking about and who is just on the take or out there to make money for them selves and really doesn’t care about you.

One of the great new Web 2.0 social networking sites that you should check out to help you build new relationships with people to help you in marketing your business on the web is Friendswin. Start building relationships today.

Well we will talk more next time.
